Inspired by this miniature Scroll of Esther in the Skirball collections, the artist has made a playful reference to the Purim tradition of drinking so much wine that one cannot distinguish between the names of one of the heroes of the story, Mordechai, and the evil Haman. Podwal has placed the scroll into the empty wine bottle to make this point.
